Juvenile Assessment Center

The Juvenile Assessment Center (JAC) is a booking and assessment center for defendants under the age of 18.  The JAC is a processing facility.  All juveniles who are arrested go to the JAC.

Several agencies work at the JAC such as the State Attorney’s Office, Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ), the School Police Youth Court and the Intensive Delinquency Diversion Services.  The agencies work together to recommend and provide services and sanctions for the juveniles. The DJJ determines whether the juvenile goes home to his parents or remains in custody.  During this screening process, the DJJ can make a referral on site if the juvenile has a drug, alcohol or mental health problem.

If the juvenile remains in custody, he will be transferred to the Palm Beach Regional Juvenile Detention Center on 45th Street in West Palm Beach.
